Lerner Research Institute David and Lindsay Morgenthaler Endowed Fellowship

Exceptional senior Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Fellows are invited to apply for the David and Lindsay Morgenthaler Endowed Fellowship to conduct research in Cleveland Clinic's Lerner Research Institute. The David and Lindsay Morgenthaler Endowed Fellowship will provide up to 3 years of support with a stipend salary of a minimum of $55,000 per year and excellent fringe benefits.

Selection criteria for successful candidates will include the following:

  • The applicant must have a strong publication track record including first author publications.
  • The applicant must have evidence of outstanding laboratory research training resulting in strong scientific achievement.
  • Graduate Student applicants must expect to receive their Ph.D. within 6 months of the application deadline verified in a reference letter from the thesis advisor.
  • Postdoctoral candidates must have FEWER than 5 years of research experience after receiving their Ph.D. verified by the graduation date (Month/Day/Year) on the CV and contact information from the university registrar for confirmation.

All Lerner Research Institute principal investigators are potential mentors for Morgenthaler Fellows. Mentor preferences and research interests can be determined by reviewing individual research programs by the Lerner Research Institute's research departments. Applicants who are completing a PhD program in the lab of a Lerner Research Institute faculty member may apply, but the applicant must be seeking a novel training experience in a different Institute lab. 

Qualified candidates must submit:

  • A cover letter that contains a statement that the applicant is applying for the David and Lindsay Morgenthaler Endowed Fellowship
  • Areas of research interest must be clearly identified
  • A complete and current curriculum vitae
  • A list of 3 references with complete contact information (e-mail, phone number and address). Must include Ph.D. thesis advisor; can include postdoc supervisory faculty and other research faculty familiar with your work
  • A list of up to 6 mentor preferences (complete name and department)
