About

Data processing is a complicated process. To address this issue, we've developed some straightforward programs intended to facilitate the process for average users. Automating steps in the process and minimizing the amount of hands-on time required to process the results. The programming language used most extensively are Excel Macros, an accessible programming method. But when the result files from Mascot became too large (over 50 Mb) Microsoft Office 2003 was unable to open the file because the maximum size of a spreadsheet in Excel is 65,565 Rows and 255 Columns. Perl was adopted to efficiently parse large text files (over 65,000 rows). The files are too large for the normal applications such as Microsoft Word or Notepad so a special text-editor such as UltraEdit is used.

When using these programs, it may be helpful to print a copy of the instructions to follow.
