Integrative Genomics Analysis Tips
Below are tips to best facilitate the use of the Integrative Genomics Analysis team:
I. To Begin:
- When using the Illumina Genomics Core, inform Pieter Faber of the need for biostatistical and/or bioinformatic assistance. He will provide general guidance and direct you to contact the Integrative Genomics Analysis team.
- When in need of non-Genomics Core statistical or bioinformatic assistance, email the Integrative Genomics Analysis team directly with the project introduction.
A response will be sent within 48 hours of this initial contact, including any questions for clarification and/or followed by a request to set up an initial consult.
II. Initial Consult Meeting:
This will last about an hour and include both the Manager and the appropriate biostats or bioinformatics team member assigned to the project.
This combination is most useful to facilitate "translation" between the researchers and the statisticians/bioinformaticians to most efficiently address the question of interest. Otherwise, it is often the case that the analyst will work on the problem as they understood it, provide that output, and only then does the investigator realize that something in the design of the analysis is not correct. Unfortunately by then, this time has already spent and cannot be recovered for either party.
III. Billing
Billing will be discussed on an individual basis according to the project scope and needs.
IV. The general data analysis flow:
- Obtain data
- Data QC Phase:
- Report of outcome
- Meeting to discuss (if necessary)
- Analysis Phase:
- Report of outcome
- Meeting to discuss
