Jianyu Zhang, M.D.

Jianyu Zhang is Project Staff in Dr. Vitek’s lab. Jianyu received his Medical Degree from the Tianjin Medical School in China. His research focuses on movement disorders using electrophysiological and behavioral methods to study the development of Parkinsonian motor signs and the effect of deep brain stimulation.

Weidong Xu, M.D.

Weidong Xu is a Project Staff in Dr. Vitek’s lab. Weidong obtained his Medical Degree in 1990 from Hubei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 1999, he received a Master of Science degree from the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. Currently, he is doing studies on the mechanisms of Deep Brain Stimulation on the treatment of disorders such as Parkinson’s disease. He also conducts studies on the mechanisms of acupuncture treatment.

Jennie Minnich, M.S.

Jennie is a Senior Research Technologist in Dr. Vitek’s lab. She earned her M.S. degree from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois.

Kim Gelbke

Kim Gelbke is a Clinical Research Assistant for Dr. Vitek. She is responsible for the coordination and administration of all patient research projects including management of data bases. Kim is also responsible for videotaping movement disorder patients (research patients) and the editing/copying of video tapes to CD/DVD format for files and presentations.
