Peripheral Nerve Injury and Repair
Peripheral nerve disorders
are frequently a result of
acute traumatic and chronic
repetitive injury, but at
times are caused by inheritable
or acquired autoimmune
disorders. A clear
understanding of the etiology
of these conditions is
critical to the creation of
strategies to overcome the
sensory and motor deficits
incurred. At the Orthopaedic Research Center
we are bringing together the expertise of
molecular and cellular biologists with physiologists
and surgeons to isolate the critical factors
responsible for and the means to prevent
or implement treatment strategies for several
peripheral nerve disorders.
