Musculoskeletal Histology Core

Core Focus: Histology of undecalcified and decalcified musculoskeletal tissues, routine and special stains, automated immunohistochemistry and automated in situ hybridization

The Musculoskeletal Histology Core allows biologists, clinicians, engineers, and tissue engineers access to histological services focused on musculoskeletal tissues, access to automated instrumentation, and academic support in all aspects of histology. This core complements existing soft tissue histology resources at LRI/CCF and uses expertise currently within the center for analysis of soft and mineralized musculoskeletal tissues (undecalcified sections, plastic embedding, mineral deposition rates, clinical studies of calcium metabolism, bone healing, implant integration, etc.)

Location: CCFMCC Histology is conducted in two locations:

1) The Orthopaedic Soft Tissue Histology Laboratory is under the supervision of Suneel Apte, MBBS, D. Phil, and is located in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, on the third floor (ND3-018) of the ND building.
