Contribute Troubleshooting

1. Contribute is asking me for a password that I don't have or remember

Does one of your desktop icons look just like this image?

Yes: You probably clicked on the the icon for the Contribute Connection Key. This key was sent to you per email and you may have saved the attachment to your desktop. The problem is that the icon for the key looks just like the icon of the application. Please delete the key icon and start the program with the other icon.

No: Instructions with the temporary access code were sent to you per email. Please contact the Web Manager if you can't find your instructions.

2. Contribute has just been installed. I cannot connect to my web pages?

Have you been sent a Contribute Connection Key?

Yes: Double-click the Contribute Connection Key attachment in your email. This will bring up the software, if it's not already running, and you will see a window asking you for the following information: 1) your full name; 2) your email address; and 3) a password.

No: Please contact the Web Manager to request a Contribute Connection Key

3. My Contribute site is disabled? The Edit button reads "Retry Connection". I get a message that says "Access denied. The file may not exist, or there could be a connection problem".

Has your computer been disconnected from the network or were there network connections problems with your computer earlier while you were running Contribute?

Yes: You will need to enable your connection by going to Edit > My Connections (PC) or Contribute > My Connections (Mac). Highlight your site and click on the Enable button at the top, on the right. If the site remains disabled (Mac), please remove the site from the My Connections menu and re-apply the Contribute Connection Key that was sent to you per email (see also questions 1 and 2).

No: Please check if you can access other resources on the internet, too? If so, please remove the site from the My Connections menu and re-apply the Contribute Connection Key that was sent to you per email (see also questions 1 and 2).
