Creating a new page with Contribute is a simple task. The idea is to first go to a page you want to clone while you're still in Browser Mode. Please make sure that this is the appropriate web template for your department!
1. Click the New Page button in the top left toolbar:
2. The New Page dialog box will open with a preview window of the existing web page:
Select Copy of Current Page in the top left section to create a copy of the web page. Enter the required title in the Page title text box (<Enter Title>). This title will appear in a browser's title bar when a web visitor views the page; it does not appear on the page itself. Click OK.
3. The new page opens in Edit Mode with a copy of the content from the original web page. This content can now be deleted or modified. When you're finished editing the new web page, it can be saved on the staging web server by clicking on the Publish button. In the top left of the toolbar, you'll find the following buttons while you're in Edit Mode:
4. Once you click on the Publish button, a window prompt may pop up to remind you that you haven't created a link to the new page yet. This is OK for now and you can click on Yes.
5. The Publish New Page window will prompt you then to select a file name and a file location (URL) for the new page:
Contribute will create the new page in the same folder as the page you were viewing when you created the page. You can change the folder location by clicking on the Choose Folder button.
Please make sure to check the file location (URL) under Web address carefully:
6. After you've published the new page, it is saved on the staging server and you will be back in Browser Mode . Don't forget to link the new web page to and from other web pages, otherwise web visitors will not be able to find it.
