After teaching software engineering at Pace University and gaining experience in bioinformatics at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, I have focused my computational biology research efforts on population genetics, cancer genomics and immuno-oncology. While at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, and subsequently at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Columbia University, I worked on developing new bioinformatics approaches to the study of copy number variants and their contribution to a number of neuropsychiatric disorders. These projects called upon analysis of high-throughput sequencing data and many were carried out as part of large consortia. Most recently, while working at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and now at Cleveland Clinic, I developed and optimized the variant-calling pipelines for exome and transcriptome sequencing. I also developed a new tool (NAseek), a computational algorithm for the prediction of neoepitopes based on mutational data in tumors.
