Metabolomics Core

The equipment in the Metabolomics Core includes several LC-MS systems including two high resolution instruments for untargeted metabolomics; a ThermoScientific Q-Exactive HF and an ABSciex Triple TOF 5600, and three triple quadrupole LC-MS systems for targeted metabolomics; a ThermoScientific Quantiva, an AB Sciex 3200 QTrap, and a Shimadzu 8050. The core also has three GC-mass spectrometry systems including a high resolution instruments for untargeted metabolomics; ThermoScientific Q-Exactive instrument, and two systems for targeted metabolomics; a ThermoScientific Evo triple quadrupole instrument and an Agilent 5890N. These instruments are dedicated to small molecule analysis. In addition, the Core has copies of Compounds Discover, Tracefinder, XCMS, and MetaboLyzer available for data analysis.

This high resolution LC-MS system is used for untargeted metabolomic and lipidomic experiments which allows the relative quantitation of 500-1000 of metabolites.

Thermo Scientific Trace 1310 GC + Q Exactive GC Mass spectrometer

This high resolution GC-MS system is used for untargeted metabolomic experiments which allows the relative quantitation of 100-500 of metabolites.

Proteomics Core

The major equipment in the Proteomics Core includes two nano-flow LC-MS systems; A ThermoScientific Orbitrap Elite that was purchased via a NIH shared instrument grant (1S10RR031537-01) and a ThermoScientific Fusion Lumos system that was also purchased with a NIH shared instrument grant (1S10OD023436-01). All of these instruments are dedicated to high-sensitivity protein sequencing and identification experiments. The core also has an Agilent 1100 HPLC for off-line peptide fractionation. In addition, the Core has copies of Proteome Discover, MaxQuant, Mascot, and Scaffold available.

Agilent 1100 HPLC

This HPLC system is equipped with a quaternary pump and both UV-Vis and Florescence detectors that is mostly used for sample purification and fractionation. It can also be used for compound quantification.

Thermo Scientific Ultimate 3000 UHPLC + Orbitrap Fusion Lumos Tribrid Mass spectrometer with ETD

This high resolution nano-flow LCMS system is used for both global quantitative proteomic experiments along with targeted protein quantitation.
