The Research Informatics Core provides data collection tools, database development and maintenance for clinical research studies including those for drug and device trials.Currently we support 90 active studies. Research Informatics also supports the Clinical Research Unit at the Cleveland Clinic for the Cleveland Clinical and Translational Science Award.

With a staff of 15 experienced programmers and analysts, we develop databases and other research tools in Oracle Forms, Oracle APEX, Oracle Clinical and Microsoft .NET platforms.

We also develop and host databases for disease and treatment registries. See this article on the use of EMR data for research.

Our dedicated research data center hosts 52 physical servers, over 10 TB of SAN storage and 30 virtual servers. Platforms include: Oracle 10g, Microsoft SQL 2005 and .NET 2.0, MySQL and Sun.

Recently, we are members of the REDCap Consortium (Research Electronic Data Capture).

Research Informatics also hosts monthly meetings of Medical Informatics Grand Rounds for the Cleveland area.

Research Informatics also supports the Advanced Imaging for Glaucoma.
