The Lerner Research Institute's Core Services seek to facilitate and advance research throughout Cleveland Clinic by providing technologies that support basic, translational, and clinical research.
Molecular Biotechnology Core
The Molecular Biotechnology Core offers consultation and services of customized peptide synthesis, peptide modification, purification and quality analysis. The Core offers CD Spectroscopy and biomolecular interaction analysis and equilibrium and kinetic measurements using Biacore 3000, Isothermal Titration Calorimetry and Microscale Thermophoresis.
The core provides a wide range of high quality services of peptide synthesis, surface plasmon resonance and other biophysical technologies. The core has a microwave based peptide synthesizer (Liberty Blue, CEM Inc.) Biomolecular interactions are quantified using Biacore 3000 and NanoTemper (LabelFree and NT.115), while isothermal titration calometer (iTC MicroCal 200) is used for measuring the thermodynamic parameters (kinetics, enthalpy, entropy and number of binding sites) of biomolecular interactions. Jasco 815 CD spectrophotometer is capable for analysis of secondary structure of proteins in solution and protein folding and confirmation changes.

Users of the Core are urged to acknowledge any work performed by this Facility in their publications. It is a scientific support laboratory, not just a technical operation. Please send a copy of your publications to the Core Facility. The publications will be compiled and may be used as supporting material in the future for new Shared Instrumentation Grant application.
