Metabolomics Core

The major equipment in the Metabolomics laboratory includes capillary HPLC-electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry systems. A Micromass Quattro Ultima and an ABSciex Triple TOF 5600. These instruments are dedicated to small molecule analysis.

Micromass Quattro Ultima

Micromass Quattro Ultima triple quadrupole mass spectrometer equipped with ESI and APCI probes.  This instrument is used for targeted MRM experiments.

Waters Separation Module 2690 HPLC

Waters Separation Module 2690 HPLC equipped with a Waters 996 Photodiode Array Detector and a 120 samples autosampler. This instrument is interfaced with the Quattro Ultima for LC/MS and LC/MS/MS analysis.

Beckman Gold 126 HPLC equipped with a 96 samples autosampler, both a 168 Photodiode Array Detector and a Jasco FP-1520 fluorescence detector.

 

ABSciex Triple TOF 5600

ABSciex Triple TOF MS which is equipped with a Shimadzu HPLC system.  This instrument is utilized for untargeted metabolomic analysis.

Proteomics Core

The major equipment in the Proteomics laboratory includes two capillary column HPLC-electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry systems. A ThermoFinnigan LTQ that was purchased in 2004 with funding from the Ohio Board of Regents Hayes Investment Fund as a part of the Ohio Mass Spectrometry Consortium and a ThermoFinnigan Orbitrap-Elite that was purchased through an NIH shared instrument grant. All of these instruments are dedicated to high-sensitivity protein sequencing and identification experiments.
In addition, the laboratory routinely uses a Mascot cluster for the database searches. We also have several stand-alone copies of Proteome Discover, a copy of Sieve, and Scaffold available.
