COLLOIDAL COOMASSIE BLUE STAINING
FOR PROTEIN IDENTIFICATION BY MASS SPECTROMETRY

1. Fix gel in 40% methanol/10% acetic acid for several 10-15 minutes changes or overnight.   Use a clean container and cover to exclude airborne contaminants.
   
   
2. Rinse gel in deionized water.
   
   
3. Add Pierce Gel Code Blue (colloidal Coomassie blue) and gently shake 1-1.5 hrs or overnight.   Keep container covered.
   
   
4. Rinse gel with deionized water several times (~15 minutes each) to intensify stain.
   
   
5. Store gel in Pierce Gel Code Blue or dry after intensifying on filter paper.
