Anxiety in cancer patients is of concern as it has been implicated in the acceleration of disease progression and the increase of post-surgical pain and complications. The goal of the present study is to examine the effect of complementary and alternative therapies in prostate cancer patients scheduled for surgery or radiation therapy. The study will determine how guided imagery and energy therapy offered over the 4-week period prior to surgery or radiation will affect anxiety, stress hormones, PSA level, quality of life and post-surgical pain.
If you have been recently diagnosed with prostate cancer, plan to undergo surgery or radiation therapy and there are at least 4 weeks before your intervention, you may be eligible to participate.
