Laboratory

Techniques in the lab

Microscopy - Most of our data is in the form of microscopic images. Both histochemical and immunocytochemical techniques are employed in the lab and applied to cell culture and rat and human tissues. Depending on the question, we employ multiple antibody labeling, antigen retrieval, and/or signal amplification. Brightfield, fluorescence and confocal images are recorded with digital cameras. Multi-headed brightfield microscope and video monitor are available for group viewing.

Human Neuropathology - I am a Board Certified Neuropathologist and have a Joint Appointment in the Department of Anatomic Pathology.

Cell Culture - Primary cultures of rodent central nervous system.

Molecular biology - cDNA amplification and subcloning, RNA isolation, in vitro transcription.
