About Us

About Us

The SomaScan & Biomarker Core provides cutting edge SomaScan 7k and 11k Proteomic Platforms (SomaLogic), empowering researchers at Cleveland Clinic and across the country to perform targeted proteomics assays on plasma, serum, urine, and other matrices.

As the only facility in Northeast Ohio offering these advanced platforms, we provide unparalleled access to SomaLogic technology, with the closest authorized site being in Maryland.

Our platform delivers state‑of‑the‑art protein measurement and detection to achieve rapid, cost‑effective analysis through a suite of advanced, performance‑driven capabilities:

  • Multiplexity: Measures 7,000 or 11,000 human proteins simultaneously, covering approximately half of the genetically encoded human proteome.
  • Sensitivity: Detects protein concentrations spanning a dynamic range from femtomolar (10⁻¹⁵) to micromolar (10⁻³) levels.
  • Versatility: Accommodates a diverse array of sample types including blood, serum, saliva, plasma, urine, bone marrow aspirate and cell lysate, from both human and nonhuman sources.
  • Efficiency: Requires minimal sample volumes, operating effectively with inputs ranging from 55 µL to 550 µL depending on sample type

Services

Services

We currently provide SomaScan 7k and 11k Plasma Proteomics Assays to measure thousands of proteins from every biological pathway without bias. We offer panels of seven (v4.1) and eleven (v5.0) thousand proteins, respectively.

Our core also provides a suite of a la carte targeted protein and biomarker assays including MSD, Luminex and more to analyze molecules of interest.

Equipment

Equipment

We have the following platforms and equipment available for use:

  • TECAN Robot
  • Agilant Scanner
  • Quanterix SR-X
  • MSD Quickplex SQ 120MM
  • Luminex 200
