Joining a new organization can be intimidating, especially if you are moving to a new city or a new country. RETC is here through your entire experience as a trainee, from helping with onboarding paperwork before you arrive to connecting you with our alumni network after you have finished your training.
RETC serves as the centralized administrative office for research training, ensuring a seamless experience throughout your time at Cleveland Clinic Research. Our team supports onboarding, contracts, partner institution invoicing, and internal financial processes, while providing personalized guidance to international trainees through our extensive experience with visa sponsorships and close partnership with Cleveland Clinic's dedicated visa team.
RETC offers structured, career-focused programming designed to help scientists-in-training strengthen key competencies, gain confidence, and prepare for future success. Programs include individualized career guidance, monthly professional development sessions based on the National Postdoctoral Association's Core Competencies, and specialized summer curricula that engage and inspire high school and undergraduate students.
All graduate students and postdoctoral fellows complete an individual development plan with their research mentor. RETC provides individualized guidance and support to help trainees navigate challenges, strengthen performance, explore career opportunities, and address professional questions or concerns throughout training.
RETC offers monthly career development seminars for our graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Guided by National Postdoctoral Association's Core Competency recommendations and trainee feedback, our annual professional development series explores a central theme through lectures and workshops that help our scientists-in-training build resilience, leadership skills, and confidence for their future careers.
High school and undergraduate students in our summer research program can participate in weekly seminar series where they can learn more about careers in biomedical sciences, develop valuable professional skills, and explore the scientific field. Our summer students also have the opportunity to formally present their work in a competitive, judged poster showcase at the end of the summer experience.
RETC connects trainees with opportunities that support research training, recognize achievement, and advance careers.
RETC fosters a vibrant research community by creating opportunities for
trainees to connect, collaborate, and engage outside of the laboratory.
Annual events include,Graduate Student Appreciation Week(GSAW), National
Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW), Northeast Ohio Science and Engineering
Fair (NEOSEF) and more.
