Our academic mission is to provide world-class research training for our postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, undergraduate students and high school students. Our education and training programs offer hands-on experience at one of the nation’s top hospitals, alongside prominent investigators transforming groundbreaking discoveries in the laboratory to patients.
In addition to traditional laboratory training in biomedical research, our programs also provide professional development, mentoring and career exploration. Trainees have the opportunity to travel, publish in high impact journals and collaborate with investigators to solve real-world biomedical research questions.
Lerner Research Institute is highly committed to building a culture that promotes the recruitment, retention and development of diverse individuals. We respect and appreciate our similarities and differences; they enable us to better serve our patients, one another, and our global communities.
Diversity is considered to be a driver of innovation and excellence in many fields, including biomedical research. Diverse teams make better decisions, have more innovative and creative ideas and are more productive. What is equally clear is that for an organization to benefit from having a diverse workforce, it must also foster a culture of inclusion. An inclusive workplace environment creates a sense of trust and belonging among employees, who then feel more engaged and connected to the organization’s mission.
Cleveland Clinic is committed to ending long-standing systemic racism and bias that create health disparities. We’re taking an active role to further develop strategies that guide our pursuit of true equality, justice and care for our patients and community. Through seminars, training and career development programs, our employees are expanding their knowledge and skill-sets to deliver equitable care and support other employees. Our affinity-based Employee Resource Groups and location-based Diversity Councils serve as ambassadors to recruit future talent and promote health equity throughout the system and communities we serve.
