Dr. Kewal Asosingh and his core are recognized for their commitment to raising the global standard for flow cytometry and responding to growing demand for rigor and reproducibility in the field.
The International Society for Advancement of Cytometry (ISAC) has renewed Cleveland Clinic Research’s Flow Cytometry Core as a Center of Excellence, recognizing continued operational excellence and adherence to best practices. The renewal means the team, led by Kewal Asosingh, PhD, runs a program with continued emphasis on rigor, reproducibility, biosafety and user training.
Flow cytometry is a powerful technology that analyzes cells individually as they pass through a laser beam. It measures their size, shape and key features, allowing researchers to identify and study distinct cell types. This approach is central to advancing research and medicine, from understanding disease to developing new therapies. Cleveland Clinic’s Flow Cytometry Core was one of the first in the world to earn the Center of Excellence designation from ISAC.
The core prioritizes guiding their users to perform flow cytometry at a professional standard, ensuring high-quality data, and a culture of both accountability and excellence. In addition to developing the Flow Cytometry program, Dr. Asosingh is known for his innovative applications of the technology and for pioneering the integration of flow core resources into cutting-edge pulmonary research.
Dr. Asosingh believes maintaining this level of excellence is truly a team achievement.
“Our specialists provide the technical expertise and day-to-day support that keeps the Core running at the highest standard,” he says. “By embracing best practices, our users are central in driving the Core’s success.”
