Overview

Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's Cancer Institute provides the broader clinical home within which our research center operates. Modeled on the Cleveland Clinic's Taussig Cancer Center in the United States, the Institute brings together specialists from across cancer care to deliver coordinated, compassionate treatment tailored to each patient. It combines advanced diagnostic tools, a wide range of modern treatment options, and a strong emphasis on understanding each patient's individual cancer. This environment, where leading clinical care and scientific insight come together, creates a natural setting for research that connects discovery in the laboratory with real benefits for patients. With its scale, breadth of expertise, and patient-centered approach, the Institute offers a strong foundation for advancing cancer research and improving outcomes close to home.

Its infrastructure supports a strong translational research environment: advanced diagnostics including AI-powered imaging, PET-CT, and multicancer early detection (MCED) testing; a comprehensive treatment portfolio encompassing immuno-oncology, advanced radiation modalities, and robotic-assisted surgery; and routine integration of genomic sequencing and biomarker-driven therapy into patient care. This combination of a high-volume clinical setting, molecular profiling capabilities, and a patient- and family-centered model positions the Institute to bridge laboratory discovery and clinical application.

The cancer research branch of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi campus based with the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Cancer Center, is focused on developmental therapeutics and translational research primarily spanning tumor immunology, immunotherapy and immune-related toxicity research, early-phase clinical trials including innovative cellular therapies for patients with cancer or autoimmune diseases, heavy ion research at one of the few carbon ion treatment facilities in the world, and the development of innovative oncology data science initiatives to enable AI-driven research,. These efforts are being supported by expanding research infrastructure, including dedicated cancer research laboratory facilities designed to accelerate laboratory-to-clinic discoveries and foster multidisciplinary collaboration, and strengthening Cleveland Clinic's growing global cancer research network.
