Overview

Overview

It's an exciting time to be a part of Cleveland Clinic Research. Through its global initiatives, including postdoctoral fellow programs, multi-institutional partnerships and more, there are many opportunities to grow and be on the edge of highly innovative research.

Cleveland Clinic Novo Nordisk Foundation Exchange

Cleveland Clinic Novo Nordisk Foundation Exchange

The Cleveland Clinic and the Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF) have established the Cleveland Clinic – Denmark: Quantum-AI Biomedical Frontiers Fellowship Programme, a three-year postdoctoral initiative launched in 2024. This program aims to integrate quantum technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) into biomedical research and clinical applications.

Funded with up to DKK 43 million (approximately $6.2 million USD) over three years, the fellowship supports the exchange of 12 researchers. Each fellow undertakes up to three-year research term at either the Cleveland Clinic or a Danish institution. At Cleveland Clinic, fellows will have access to its pioneering biomedical research environment, now supported by the world's only quantum computer fully dedicated to healthcare research — part of the Discovery Accelerator partnership with IBM.

The program focuses on several key scientific areas:

  • Enhanced Diagnostic Precision: Employing quantum sensing and AI-driven analytics to improve diagnostic accuracy and reduce diagnostic times.
  • Innovative Drug Discovery: Applying quantum computing and machine learning algorithms to simulate and predict molecular interactions, potentially reducing the time and cost associated with discovering new drugs.
  • Optimization of Clinical Trials: Utilizing advanced technologies to streamline clinical trial processes.
  • Development of Personalized Medicine: Leveraging AI and quantum technologies to tailor medical treatments to individual patients.

Applicants are required to have obtained a PhD within five years of the fellowship's start date and must be affiliated with either Cleveland Clinic or Danish research institution for the duration of the fellowship.

This prestigious program aims to strengthen collaboration between the Cleveland Clinic and the Danish research ecosystem, promoting international exchange and professional development in a multidisciplinary setting. It positions researchers at the forefront of medical innovation, bridging cutting-edge science with real-world clinical applications.
